Performance appraisal systems have fallen out of favour in recent times for a number of reasons, a chief one being that managers lack the coaching and interactive skills to give constructive feedback to their staff.
This 2-day course is aimed at managers, supervisors, team leaders and HR Practitioners responsible for performance management in the workplace.
The training is highly interactive and while theory is covered, the emphasis is on developing the learners’ practical inter-active/coaching skills.

Course content includes
- The concepts of performance management, talent management, performance appraisal and performance coaching
- The concepts of Best Practices, Benchmarking and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- The Danny Langdon Work map as a tool to analyse business performance
- Role profiling – determining appropriate key performance areas (KPAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Agreeing SMART goals and targets, including both realistic and stretch goals (performance contracting)
- Accountability for meeting agreed goals and targets
- Assessing performance objectively and fairly
- Continuous constructive feedback and coaching as opposed to historical assessments
- Identifying training and development needs through the performance management process

- Setting boundaries
